safe and sound

Hi everyone!

I want to thank everybody for the outpouring of support and concern I’ve received over the last couple of weeks. As many of you know, I was running the Boston Marathon to raise funds for Dana-Farber.

I had an absolutely amazing experience right up until the end. The weather was perfect, the crowds had so much energy, and I felt great. Our coach had told us over and over not to go out too fast, so I didn’t. When I hit Heartbreak Hill, I felt fantastic – crazy right?

My husband caught me at mile 20, and said he would meet me at the finish. As I was running through Kenmore Square, I heard the explosion and saw a puff of smoke. I figured it was either a cannonball or fireworks – part of some kind of celebration.

I ran down Commonwealth and under the Mass Ave bridge back up to Commonwealth – I had been prepared for that little hill for months. Before we could merge back onto the main road, there were police blocking the way. They said there was an explosion and we would be here awhile. We were all still stretching, had paused our watches, just waiting to finish. I could see Hereford Street, I was just .5 miles away from the finish line. After a few minutes they told us the race was over.

Luckily I had my phone and it still had some battery, and I was able to get in touch with my husband Stephen who was on the other side of Copley. Long story short, we eventually met up and were able to make it out of the city.

I was completely overwhelmed by the number of people getting in touch with me to make sure that me and my family were all ok. Friends and family of course, but also past clients, future clients, even friends of friends on facebook.

Thank you all so much!! It means the world to me. Looking forward to April 21, 2014.

xoxoxo
